Mr & Mrs E, family & friends

Truly beautiful house - Thank you.

We have all had a really lovely time here.

3-10 July 2009

Mr & Mrs G: Hertfordshire

We have had a thoroughly enjoyable time during our short stay at Underbecks. Clearly it sits proudly in a TROPHY location enjoying outstanding panoramic views.

The open plan volume & light makes for great living space along with the GIRA smart home technology offering a variation of lighting moods.

What a fantastic home - we can't wait to come back. PS we have left our key in the key box on departure.

Children of Mr & Mrs G: Hertfordshire

Staying at Underbecks has been fantastic. The house is located in a tranquil setting. It reached all my expectations. The ferry is very convenient and easily accessible from the house to Salcombe town.

The house has a very contemporary style to it making the house homely, comfortable and bright. All in all, Salcombe is anything you could hope for and staying at Underbecks just made it that little bit better. See you next year.

26th June - 3rd July 2009

The C family (again): Vale of Glamorgan

We are just nipping home for a couple of days for some legal advice about the possibility of squatters' rights (I did warn Pauline [owner] first!).

Had a fabulous week, with excellent weather too a real bonus.

A June visit has been wonderful - very different from July. The Dolphins appeared and gave a tremendous display in front of Underbecks. Happy days! x

12th - 19th June 2009

The D family & friends

Had a great time. Third visit and still as wonderful. We will be back.

29th May - 5th June 2009

The H family + Nanny: Essex

Our second visit to the house and it was just as special as the first time we came. We had fantastic weather all week, not a cloud in the sky and around 21 degrees C!

Needless to say we spend our time on the beach while our son Harry (nearly 2) spent all his time in the sea.

See you next year.

1st - 8th May 2009

The D family: Surrey

Amazing house, amazing view. We had a wonderful week and will definitely come back.

The boys loved the wooden train set - a definite crowd pleaser. Loved the view from the loo! Thank you.

20th - 27th March 2009

The P family: Hertfordshire

A lovely house in a great position and you have ticked all the boxes. We have had a lovely week here with all the family to help us celebrate our golden wedding anniversary 21st March.

The weather was very kind to us with just one bad day. We hope to come again for another special treat. Thank you.

13th -17th March 2009

The P & B families: Surrey & London

Lovely house & position. Lucky with the weather.

9th - 16th Jan 2009

Party of walking enthusiasts: Portishead, Ilminster & France

Fantastic house & views across the estuary. Several "good weather" days allowed us to get out and about walking in the area.

Recommend a trip to Dartmouth via the coast road and lunch in The Cherub. Totnes is also worth a visit, with its multitude of small shops and patisseries - recommend the Old Bakery for coffee and cakes.

Most of the Salcombe shops were having "50% off" Sales, so the ladies were delighted; the phrase shop til you drop took on a whole new meaning. Salcombe Coffee Co and Victoria PH received several visits from us. The Ferry Inn is NOT recommended.

Not far from Totnes and Dartington is the Church House Inn at Rattery; we stopped here for lunch on the way to Salcombe and can highly recommend the food.

21st Dec 2008

The E family

Our second visit and the house and view is just as fantastic as the first time. Salcombe in December is great. Maybe we got lucky with the weather, but there are a lot of advantages over summer - particularly there are not many other people so we really had the beach to ourselves.

We will be back in 2009 to stay at Underbecks. We can't imagine anywhere else we would stay in Salcombe.

31st Oct 2008

W, H & R parties: Kingston, Teddington & Watford - Far, far away

Another brilliant week! Went to the locksmiths and had a key cut for each family. We look forward to our return, though apparently we have to make a proper booking.

Mr W is, once again, under the influence and willing to bring "us lot" back in 2009. Bravo!

Thank you - a great house!

26th September 2009

Wonderful time had by all.

22nd - 29th August 2008

The H party: Hereforshire

Lovely house & lovely location. Lovely to have 2 TVs both Sky as it kept the children separate from the adults!!

Fantastic view to wake up to every morning.

25th - 31st July 2008

The McG party: Middlesex and W Sussex

Fabulous house and spectacular views.

South Sands Sailing school are very friendly and knowledgeable.

Oyster shack at Island Street is really special, especially if you arrive by boat. Whitestrand Boat hire at the pontoon are good.

After all the Sharpham Wine, can I buy your spare kidney Kellie?

Going to do a Phd in lighting control before we come back next year!

Awesome lights! Great View! Shame about the rain but it was all great fun! See you next year!

31st Oct - 7th November 2008

The R Family: Essex

Thank you. Thank you. Thank you.

This house is amazing and we've loved every minute of it. Will miss the view - my garden isn't quite the same.

18th - 25th July 2008

The C family: Vale of Glamorgan, plus riff raff

Another excellent week at Underbecks - and with weather to match too. Thank you for the wonderful flowers and the delicious wine, so thoughtful and very much appreciated. Look forward to seeing you next year. X

Can't think of any suggestions - You've ticked all the boxes we can think of - and all those that we haven't even thought of! X

PS Excellent wet suit rails - thank you.

4th - 11th July 2008

Mr & Mrs S and extended family: Hertfordshire

"The rain it raineth every day", so now we remember why we gave up holidays in Devon and went to France! However, our sons have shown their children the sort of holidays they used to have, and we've had a really good time.

The house has been most comfortable and we have enjoyed our time here.

We've appreciated the flower arrangements and I've loved the outside planting.

Would love to come again with hopefully better weather - the average for the month fell on one day!

Best wishes, JS

27th June - 4th July 2008

Mr & Mrs D: Surrey and the McI family: Middlesex

Another wonderful week at Underbecks - As fantastic as last time.

21st - 27th June 2008

Three generations of the H family: Lancashire & Essex

What a fantastic house - views amazing. We were lucky with the weather - we all look like lobsters. The Winking Prawn is a great place to chill.

Only negative point:  Salcombe Boat hire - miserable and rude owner, but hiring the boat across to the beach was a scream!

Thank you - home from home.

6th - 13th June 2008

Three generations of the H family:  Hertfordshire, Manchester & Suffolk

Great house, and we had weather to match it!

Lovely coastal walks straight out of the property, and South Sands Beach is a fantastic place to while away some hours.

Thanks to Pauline for her attentiveness, particularly for the baby!

30th May - 6th June 2008

The H family, Nanny & Grandad: Essex

The House and location are fantastic! We had a fabulous week here and the house was a real home from home. Even the weather was good!

Our son Henry (10 months) learnt to clap and wave while we were here and he spent a lot of time exploring the kitchen cupboards!!

We will be back next year and can't wait.

23rd May 2008

The J family: Lincolnshire

The only fault was the cold wind, which you have no power over! We have all had the most fabulous week - Your every little detail + extra thoughts made this such a comfortable, relaxing and happy holiday.

The house was so fabulous that we didn't want to go out! A very big thank you. - We will definitely be back next year.

The walk to Salcombe is a must! Really pretty, over in a jiffy, just one tricky hill, but if you "do" the hostelries the other side .... No problem! Blah! - blah! - blah!

Could rue forever about this place. Please do NOT sell it!! We will be back.

16th May 2008

The P & D families: Oxfordshire

Wonderful house and location.

Someone even organised perfect weather! Superb fixtures and fittings, bedding, towels etc.

Wonderful selection of toys, videos and games.

11th - 18th April 2008

Mr & Mrs G: Glasgow

We all loved our stay. A very cosy home for families - our kids do not want to leave. The childrens' room was perfect - central, yet easy to isolate and very cosy - the books and toys were also greatly appreciated.

The views were always changing and always beautiful.

The kids loved Captain Flints (you were right about getting there early) - I think it is the only restaurant I have ever been to where my own kids seemed to be the quietest!

We had a great time in the beer garden at the Victoria Inn and the food was also lovely. We loved visiting the bakery every morning- my daughter became a clotted cream addict!

Thanks so much for letting us use your lovely house - we do hope to come back!

4th - 11th April 2008

Mr & Mrs P: Surrey

We had a wonderful week with six days of continuous sunshine (apart from a very brief snow blizzard) and the young ones paddled in the sea every day!

Even the tide was perfectly timed for beach cricket etc. etc.

The P family fell in love with Underbecks and its inspiring situation.

21st - 28th March 2008

Mr & Ms G: Milton Keynes, Bucks

Beautiful house. Very impressed. Loved everything about it, view amazing.

We weren't so lucky with the weather and struggled to work the under floor heating but overall thoroughly enjoyed our stay and look forward to booking our return visit.

22nd - 29th February 2008

2 x F and P parties: Worcester, West Yorkshire & London

We spent a wonderfully relaxing week here. The weather was very pleasant and we had to remind ourselves that it was still February. The house surpassed expectations. We found it very comfortable and well equipped.

The views from the house are stunning and we enjoyed the beautiful scenery of the area. Walking is the best way of seeing it.

Our thanks to the owners and their team for maintaining the house to such a high standard of comfort and cleanliness. We have really felt at home here and had a wonderful time.

We did not eat out as our own team cooked so well!

28th Dec 2007 - 4th Jan 2008

Mr & Mrs A-S: Bucks

Lovely house and location.

A great start to the New Year.

30th November - 6th Dec 2007

Mr & Mrs C: Oxfordshire

A very creatively designed house, tastefully furnished and attention to detail second to none.

Fantastic location and views. One of our best holiday homes!

19th - 26th October 2007

W, H & R parties: Kingston, Teddington & Watford

An outstanding house in a fantastic setting - what a brilliant week for our annual family holiday. All 12 of us wanted to stay for another week, but couldn't find enough places to hide.

We loved it all so much we have launched a publicity campaign and all signed a petition to "the powers that be" to book again for next year!

We think that Mr W has had enough to drink that he will relent and make the booking within the hour.

7th June 2007

The D Family: Surrey

Beautiful house. Very well thought out and attention to detail second to none. Had a great week.

Our son enjoyed all the technology.

Wonderful house and location.
